The Senate convened at 3:00pm.

Cloture Invoked, 84-14: Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Cal. #115, S.2296, National Defense Authorization Act.

Cloture was filed on the following nominations:

1. Maria Lanahan to be a District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri.

2. Edward Artau to be a District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.

Passed Cal. #126, S.1038 – TRACE Act by unanimous consent.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2025. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S.2296, FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act, post-cloture.

The Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for the weekly conference meetings.

Floor Schedule

The Senate stands in recess until Monday, February 23, 2026, other than for pro forma sessions on the following dates, during which no business shall be conducted:

  • Friday, February 13th at 9:00am
  • Tuesday, February 17th at 6:30pm
  • Thursday, February 19th at 2:00pm

The Senate will next convene at 3:00pm on Monday, February 23rd. Following the prayer and pledge, Senator Kaine will be recognized to deliver Washington’s Farewell address. Following the Address, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.

At approximately 5:30pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.7147, an act making further consolidated appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, and for other purposes.
