Confirmed, 50-43: Executive Calendar #291 Edward L. Artau to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.

Leader Thune sent an Executive Resolution to the Desk – S. Res. 377 (Authorizing the En Bloc consideration in Executive Session of certain nominations on the Executive Calendar). In order to place the Executive Resolution on the Calendar, Thune objected to his own request.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Two votes at 11:45am:

  1. Confirmation of Maria A. Lanahan to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri.
  2. Motion to Invoke Cloture on Robert Law to be Under Secretary for Strategy, Policy, and Plans, Department of Homeland Security.

The Senate will then recess until 2:15pm for the weekly party caucus lunches.

Two votes at 2:15pm (if cloture invoked):

  1. Confirmation of Robert Law to be Under Secretary for Strategy, Policy, and Plans, Department of Homeland Security.
  2. Motion to Invoke Cloture on Kyle Christopher Dudek to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate will vote on passage of H.J.Res.131, disapproving the rule submitted by the Bureau of Land Management relating to “Coastal Plain Oil and Gas Leasing Program Record of Decision”.

 

Following disposition of the joint resolution, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on S.Res.520, en bloc consideration of certain nominations on the Executive Calendar. If cloture is invoked, the vote on adoption of the resolution is expected on Monday.

 

At approximately 1:45pm. The Senate will vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #475 Susan Courtwright Rodriguez, of North Carolina, to be United States District Judge for the Western District of North Carolina.
