The Senate convened at 10:00am.

By a vote of 51-41, Executive Calendar #24 Colleen R. Lawless to be United States District Judge for the Central District of Illinois is confirmed.

By a vote of 50-41, the Senate invoked cloture on Executive Calendar #40 Gordon P. Gallagher to be United States District Judge for the District of Colorado.

Confirmed, 49-42: Executive Calendar #35 Jonathan James Canada Grey to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Senator Schumer filed cloture on the following nominations:

  • Robert Stewart Ballou to be U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.
  • Andrew G. Schopler to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California.
  • Arun Subramanian to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
  • Patrice H. Kunesh to be Commissioner of the Administration for Native Americans, Department of Health and Human Services.

At a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Republican Leader, the Senate will proceed to roll call votes on confirmation of the following nominations:

  • Maria Araújo Kahn to be United States Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit.
  • James Edward Simmons, Jr. to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of California.
  • Gordon P. Gallagher to be United States District Judge for the District of Colorado.

On Monday, March 6, 2023, the Senate will convene at 3:00pm. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of Robert Stewart Ballou to be U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.

At approximately 5:30pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Ballou nomination.

The Senate adjourned at 4:26pm.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 10th.

At 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #608 Daniel E. Burrows to be an Assistant Attorney General.

Following the confirmation vote on the Burrows nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly party caucus lunches.

During Tuesday’s session, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.95 – A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Internal Revenue Service relating to “Interim Guidance Simplifying Application of the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax to Partnerships”.
