The Senate convened at 10:00am.

Confirmed, 54-42: Executive Calendar #61, Daniel I. Werfel to be Commissioner of Internal Revenue for the term expiring November 12, 2027.

Confirmed, 51-43: Executive Calendar #39 James Edward Simmons, Jr. to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of California.

Confirmed, 51-42: Executive Calendar #6 Maria Araujo Kahn to be United States Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit.

The Senate stands adjourned until 9:30am Friday, March 10, 2023.

At 9:30am, March 10th, the Senate will convene for a Pro Forma session with no official business conducted. 

When the Senate adjourns Friday, March 10th, they will reconvene Tuesday, March 14th at 3:00 pm.  Following Leaders’ remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #62 Brent Neiman, of Illinois, to be a Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury, vice Ramin Toloui.

At 5:30 the Senate will vote on the Neiman nomination.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 4th. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Aaron Christian Peterson to be United States District Judge for the District of Alaska, post-cloture.

 

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Aaron Christian Peterson to be United States District Judge for the District of Alaska.
  2. The motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Megan Blair Benton to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Missouri.

 

If cloture is invoked on the Benton nomination, at approximately 2:15pm, the Senate is expected to proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Megan Blair Benton to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Missouri.
  2. The motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Brian Charles Lea to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee.

 

 

If cloture is invoked on the Lea nomination, there would be up to two hours of debate prior to a vote on confirmation of the nomination. This vote is possible during Wednesday’s session.
