Cloture invoked, 54-40: Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #179 David Crane to be Under Secretary of Energy.

At 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of Executive Calendar #179 David Crane to be Under Secretary of Energy.
  2. Motion to Invoke Cloture on Executive Calendar #26 Dale E. Ho to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Further roll call votes are expected.

Leader Schumer has filed cloture on the following nominations:

  • Executive Calendar #81 Dilawar Syed to be Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration.
  • Executive Calendar #166, Molly R. Silfen to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims for a term of fifteen years.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, April 30th. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to ten minutes each.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on S.Res.690, an executive resolution authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of (49) certain nominations on the Executive Calendar.  If cloture is invoked on S.Res.690, all post-cloture time will be considered expired and the Senate will vote on adoption of the resolution at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Democratic Leader, no earlier than Friday, May 1st.

At approximately 1:45pm, a roll call vote on the motion to discharge S.J.Res 184, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran that have not been authorized by Congress from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (Schiff) is expected.
