By a vote of 74-25, the Senate confirmed Executive Calendar #64 Joshua David Jacobs to be Under Secretary for Benefits of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Cloture not invoked, 57-42: Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Cal. #32, S.326. The Veterans Affairs Medicinal Cannabis Research Bill. Schumer switched his vote to “No” in order to enter a motion to reconsider.

By unanimous consent, the Senate passed S. 418, A bill to provide financial assistance to schools impacted by radioactive contaminants and for other purposes.

By unanimous consent, the Senate passed S. 1311, A bill to reauthorize the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall trust fund and for other purposes.

PASSED by a vote of 50-49: S.J.Res.11, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, US Code, of the rule submitted by the EPA relating to “Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards”.

Cloture was filed on Executive Calendar #121 Michael Farbiarz, of New Jersey, to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, vice Noel Lawrence Hillman, retired.

Cloture was filed on Executive Calendar #122 Robert Kirsch, of New Jersey, to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, vice Freda L. Wolfson, retiring.

Cloture was filed on Executive Calendar #123 Orelia Eleta Merchant, of New York, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York, vice William Francis Kuntz II, retired.

At 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #608 Daniel E. Burrows to be an Assistant Attorney General.

Following the confirmation vote on the Burrows nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly party caucus lunches.

During Tuesday’s session, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.95 – A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Internal Revenue Service relating to “Interim Guidance Simplifying Application of the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax to Partnerships”.
