The Senate convened at 11:00am.

The motion to proceed to H.R. 2872, the legislative vehicle for the Continuing Resolution, was agreed to by voice vote.

The Senate agreed to the following resolutions, en bloc, by unanimous consent:

  • A resolution congratulating the University of Michigan Wolverines football team for winning the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic Association College Football National Championship. (S.Res.520)
  • A resolution expressing support for the designation of October 2023 as ‘‘National Co-Op Month’’ and commending the cooperative business model and the member-owners, businesses, employees, farmers, ranchers, and practitioners who use the cooperative business model to positively impact the economy and society. (S.Res.525)
  • A resolution repealing standing orders relating to flowers in the Senate Chamber. (S.Res.526)

Floor Schedule

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, April 30th. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to ten minutes each.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on S.Res.690, an executive resolution authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of (49) certain nominations on the Executive Calendar.  If cloture is invoked on S.Res.690, all post-cloture time will be considered expired and the Senate will vote on adoption of the resolution at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Democratic Leader, no earlier than Friday, May 1st.

At approximately 1:45pm, a roll call vote on the motion to discharge S.J.Res 184, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran that have not been authorized by Congress from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (Schiff) is expected.
