The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 and will resume consideration of the nomination of Karoline Mehalchick to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

There are no votes scheduled at this time.

At a time to be determined during Wednesday’s session, the cloture motions on the following nominations will ripen:

  1. S. Kato Crews to be United States District Judge for the District of Colorado
  2. Karoline Mehalchick to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

As early as during Wednesday’s session, the Senate may consider the veto message with respect to S.J.Res.32, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to “Small Business Lending Under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)”.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Leader Schumer filed cloture on the nomination of Erika L. McEntarfer, of the District of Columbia, to be Commissioner of Labor Statistics, Department of Labor.

The Senate will next convene at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026.

Following the prayer and pledge, Senator Kaine will be recognized to deliver Washington’s Farewell address. Following the Address, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.

At 5:00pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.7147, an act making further consolidated appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, and for other purposes.

At 8:20pm, Senators will gather in the Senate chamber to proceed as a body to the House for the State of the Union.

On Monday, February 23rd, Senator Barrasso filed cloture on the nomination of John DeLeeuw, of Texas, to be a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board for the remainder of the term expiring December 31, 2026.
