The Senate will convene for a pro forma session today, Friday, January 3 at 11:45am.

The Senate will convene at 12:00pm pursuant to the Constitution.

Following the prayer and pledge, the certificates of election will be presented. Senators will then be sworn-in. After the swearing-in, there will be a live quorum.

Following the quorum call, The Majority Leader will be recognized to offer the following resolutions:

  • Informing the House that the Senate has convened and a quorum is present.
  • Informing the President that the Senate has convened and a quorum is present.
  • Electing the President Pro Tempore.

Senator Grassley will then be sworn in as the President Pro Tempore for the 119th Congress.
