Confirmed, 66-24: Jerry Edwards, Jr. to be US District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.

Confirmed, 64-22: Executive Calendar #305 Brandon S. Long to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

By unanimous consent, the Senate passed S. 3553, a bill to provide a retroactive effective date for the promotions of officers of the Armed Services and so forth.

The Senate will convene at 3:00pm on Monday, December 18, 2023.

At 5:30pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #415 Martin O’Malley to be Commissioner of Social Security for the remainder of the term expiring January 19, 2025.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:30am, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #430 Christopher Charles Fonzone to be an Assistant Attorney General.

Cloture has been filed on the following nominations:

  • Christopher Charles Fonzone to be an Assistant Attorney General.
  • Sara E. Hill to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

The Senate will proceed to roll call votes on confirmation of the following nominations at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader:

  • Elizabeth H. Richard a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Career Minister, to be Coordinator for Counterterrorism, with the rank and status of Ambassador at Large.
